When the temperatures start dropping, it’s important to monitor the condition of your diesel fuel. When the temperature of ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD) drops to around 30°F the wax in liquid form will crystallize and the fuel will start to look cloudy. At 10-15°F, ULSD will begin to gel and clog your fuel tank and fuel filters. Winter blend diesel has additives that lower the gel point temperature.
